Chasing Waterfalls-Beautiful DuPont State Recreational Forest

‘This is the third blog in the Chasing Waterfalls Series.’

The next stop in the Chasing Waterfalls Series was a visit to DuPont State Recreational Forest in Brevard County in North Carolina. The recreational forest is just north of the state line that separates North and South Carolina.

There are five waterfalls in DuPont State Recreational Forest to choose from. They are Hooker Falls, Triple Falls, High Falls, Bridal Veil Falls, and Wintergreen Falls. The falls in Brevard County are ranked from the tourist center as easy, moderate, and strenuous hikes.

We choose Triple Falls and High Falls as they are under 2 miles round trip. For the moderate hiker, Hooker Falls and Wintergreen Falls which are 2.5 miles roundtrip. For the serious hiker, Bridal Veil Falls is 4.5 miles roundtrip. Some falls that are marked easy due to mileage are actually moderate due yo steepness. Pick whichever one fits your pace!!

We choose High Falls first and started at the High Falls Access and Visitor Center. High Falls is an easy scenic walk in the woods approximately 1.6 miles. The waterfall perfectly matches it’s name.

Videos are always better to capture the beauty!!
Just breathtaking!!

Right by High Falls is Triple Falls so we took that one in next. Actually, it is 3 in 1 (hence the name triple). One thing I would suggest is to bring a hiking stick for this next one! I workout 4 times a week and I still wished I had one!! The hike is along Little River then up a steep gravel trail. The hike is a beautiful moderate 1.2 miles round trip.

North Carolina has some gorgeous waterfalls and there are so many to choose from!! Of course, this blog series was about chasing ‘water’falls. How about chasing ‘ice’falls? Nah, I not that much of a winter 🥶 person!! Leave a comment if you are adventurous enough for an icefall?

Thank you for your interest in the Chasing Waterfalls series!! Stay tuned for another series in 2023!! Stay safe and Happy New Year !
