New Year: Soar in ‘24

Another year in the books and we have headed into the new year of 2024! One of my favorite things to do is to look at the blessings of the year we just finished before we look forward to the hope of the new year!!

New Hands

At the start of the year, I was unable to sleep and physically write and sign my name. The beginning of the year brought two carpal tunnel surgeries two weeks apart that relieved the carpal tunnel syndrome in my hands. Such a blessing that I felt relief. It did, however, leave me with some arthritis in my hands which was a present in my sixth decade! By mid-March, I was in the swing again and ready to blog! I am grateful for the surgeries!

On The Move

In the springtime, my parents announced that they were ready to move from their home to senior apartments. That started the touring of six different facilities and trying to compare and contrast the differences. We soon learned the differences between their desires and our desires for them!

The bigger task was the cleaning out of their home so that it could be sold. They had acquired a numerous amount of furniture which luckily was updated enough for people to be interested in buying. The larger pieces went fast along with woodworking tools.

At the beginning of June, they officially moved into their new place and the adjustment period had begun. It was rough on them and took several months for them to adjust. It was quite the eye-opening experience. I am grateful they are settled into their new residence.

Waiting List

Back in 2021, my husband was diagnosed with Pulmonary Fibrosis and 2022 was a year of acceptance and moving from pulmonologists at a local hospital to an organ transplant hospital. His testing started in April 2022 at the organ transplant hospital and in June 2023, he was placed on the waiting list for a lung transplant.

He was told that the waiting period should be between 3-4 months and as of this writing, the wait continues! We are grateful to be on the waiting list and will be waiting for the phone to ring. We are hopeful news will come in 2024!

Finally A Business

In August, I finally decided to make my blogging website into a business. Of course, it was a perfect time for a name change and Undiscovered Pathways won out! The switch over to the new name required some work in social media and the website itself.

Next was the decision on how to monetize it. That process took awhile and affiliate links won out over other choices. The process of adding the affiliate links to the existing blogs required extensive time and by the end of the year was finished. I am grateful for the guidance in setting up the business and monetizing it. It has been a labor of love in blogging for the last 8 years and will continue into 2024!

Grateful News at Thanksgiving

The most perfect time to receive good news is at Thanksgiving. In 2018, I was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer and was blessed to not have to go through radiation or chemotherapy. After 5 years of testing with no recurrence, I became a cancer survivor!! It was a surreal moment that definitely had to sink in. Definitely a sign of hope for the future!
